Biography

Sheila von Hoerner is an accomplished Ugandan renewable energy developer and circular waste management expert with over a decade of experience in Africa. She has played a key role in advancing Africa’s transition to sustainable energy by leading and promoting clean energy solutions, forging partnerships with local communities, private sector stakeholders, governments, and international organizations.

With expertise in regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and investment facilitation, Sheila has been instrumental in successfully implementing renewable energy and waste-to-value projects across Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Malawi.

As a role model in the male-dominated fields of energy and waste management, she is passionate about fostering inclusivity and inspiring women to pursue leadership roles. Sheila holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston, Texas, USA.

Sheila is particularly looking forward to working on strengthening partnerships, especially at the local level, to support Watoto Wasoka’s mission.
