“As a grassroots coach, I’ve witnessed first-hand the transformative impact of Watoto Wasoka’s programs from the Camps, Slums Derby, to the Women’s Derby. These competitions have greatly boosted the performance and exposure of both my girls and boys, helping them sharpen their skills and grow in confidence. Because of these platforms, several of my players have earned bursaries to quality schools, while others have benefited from much-needed football attire like jerseys and bibs. The Wasoka Young Leaders Awards (WYLA) scholarship scheme has been a lifeline enabling many of my players to continue their education without financial strain. Through the Life Skills Training Program with ISA where Watoto Wasoka recommended me to participate, I gained valuable knowledge and practical tools that have sharpened my ability to work more effectively with young children. The training equipped me with skills in communication, mentorship, emotional intelligence, and child-centered coaching approaches. It has strengthened my confidence as a coach and mentor, enabling me to create safer, more engaging, and supportive spaces where children can grow both on and off the pitch. I’m especially excited about what’s coming in 2025, particularly the expansion of health-focused initiatives like BUREF and Football 4 WASH. With such programs, we’re not just shaping athletes we’re raising healthier, more informed, and empowered young leaders in our communities.”Kagere Joan Eseri Mutebi – ‘’Coach Joan’’
