The story of the Christmas camp

Every December, Christmas Camp comes alive, more than just a football tournament. It becomes a place where children gather for friendship, food, learning, and joy no matter the weather. This year was no different.

Rain, resilience, and the joy of play.

Every December, Christmas Camp comes alive, more than just a football tournament.
It becomes a place where children gather for friendship, food, learning, and joy no matter the weather. This year was no different.

Across two camps, hundreds of community teams came together under heavy rain, muddy pitches, and big dreams. What followed were two unforgettable weeks of football and community.

Girls’ Christmas Camp

15 – 20 December | Emirates College, Nkoowe

Rainy days. Soggy pitches. And football that refused to stop.

The Girls’ Christmas Camp brought together 46 teams across the U-13 and U-15 categories, welcoming 686 girls from communities across Uganda, 65% more than last year’s edition.

Over the week, the girls played 106 matches and scored 262 goals, pushing through rain, mud, and fatigue with remarkable determination.

But the camp was about much more than results.

It was about resilience, teamwork, and creating a safe, joyful space where girls could play, grow, and believe in themselves. On and off the pitch, friendships were formed, confidence was built, and leadership emerged, thanks to the dedication of our coaches, volunteers, and staff who showed up every single day.

Boys’ Christmas Camp

28 December – 4 January | Ganyana Junior School, Jeza

The 12th edition of the Boys’ Christmas Camp closed after 8 action-packed days filled with football, learning, laughter, and some of the heaviest rain we’ve seen in years.

In total, 2,531 boys, 141 teams (U-11, U-13, U-15), and 128 coaches took part. Hundreds of matches were played through mud and rain, meals were shared, and evenings were filled with reflection, rest, and friendship.

For many participants, this camp is the highlight of the year, a place where competition meets community, and football becomes a tool for growth, discipline, and connection.

  • U-15: Sparta 09

The Christmas Camp is about more than goals and trophies. It is about belonging, joy, and the belief that every child deserves a safe space to play, learn, and thrive, regardless of background or circumstance.

We are deeply grateful to the teams, coaches, volunteers, donors, and partners who made this year’s camps possible. And most of all, to the children who showed up every day with courage, energy, and smiles, reminding us why we do this work.

Until next Christmas Camp, the game goes on.

Indeed, the girls camp was massive, my girls of Bonna Baana enjoyed since it was there first time to take part. My boys are improving every year. That competition is really good.

Good organization, it is worth participating.
